The mass was celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Church by the Bishop of Buffalo, Msgr. Michael W. Fisher, who in his homily recalled the importance of the first social encicle, Rerum novarum, which was the inspiration for our community, and linked it to the present needs of our world, appreciating the presence and ministry of our Society in the diocese. At the end of the mass the general moderator gave an address highlighting the role of our group in Buffalo in the history of the entire Society.
The mass was followed by a reception, which was also well attended – almost everybody stayed to celebrate with us. In the second half of the reception there was a PowerPoint presentation about the SSS in the world; the participants enjoyed receiving information about where the SSS live and our ministries are.
